Herbal medicine is an ancient healing technique that draws on plant organisms: even Hippocrates ranked it as the third remedy, after «touch» and the «word».

Bach flower therapy specifically draws on 38 flowers (including a few tree buds and spring water) which, through a specific and particular maceration process, transfer and release the therapeutic power held within the flower into a hydroalcoholic essence.

After 25 years of using, experimenting with, and researching these essences in practice, I can affirm their effectiveness with certainty, and I can explain it by comparing them to musical notes. First of all, the instrument producing the notes must be well made, built from excellent material: so the flowers must be wild, and the extraction process must be excellent.

We are also all familiar with the effect of single notes strung together at random compared with what a melody and a harmony that build on one another in synergy can achieve. The essences have the same effect when administered in the most suitable way (orally, sublingually, topically on the skin), at the right time, in the right areas, in the right amounts.

If nothing is overlooked, the result is quick, deep, and lasting.

Dr. Edward Bach was a microbiologist, and the foundation his therapy rests on is thoroughly scientific; but since he was also a man of great sensitivity, of a visionary and enlightened mind, he managed to create a method that unites the psycho-emotional with the organic, and this is precisely the only approach one should take with «his flowers».

Today, the expanded knowledge we have gained from physics, chemistry, physiology, and pathology allows us to have more precise, more targeted diagnostic methods, better able to understand the individual and the therapeutic power of the essences and their combinations. Physics, and physical chemistry in particular, has allowed us to study the properties of the essences and their combinations from a vibrational, energetic point of view, bringing out their full potential.

There is no denying that a woman growing her little one inside her «vibrates for two»: this is why, in her, this kind of herbal therapy, used correctly, proves to be extremely effective. The real difference lies in truly understanding the person in front of you, and therefore the needs of her body and mind, and in the wonderful case of a pregnant woman, also those of the young being growing within her.

Today there are several objective methods for finding the correct essences and combinations, some of them even specific to new mothers. I will go into these techniques in detail in a future article.
